If you had recited this quote to me about seven years ago, I would have disagreed. I was more of a stick in there and fight my way to success. However, with age comes wisdom. I now realize that sometimes it is best to turn and walk the other way. You CANNOT change others into someone they don’t want to be. You can’t keep trying to obtain approval from those who will NEVER approve of you no matter how hard you try. Life is like that sometimes; it lets you see clearly who supports you and who doesn’t. By accepting this, working through this, and doing something to “change you” can you truly be set free from the guilt that can arise from departing on those closest to you.
